Goetheanismus wird als eine Forschungshaltung charakterisiert, die um ein sensibles und sorgf{\"a}ltiges Zueinanderf{\"u}hren von Empirie und Theorie, von Wahrnehmung und Idee bem{\"u}ht ist. Er setzt voraus, dass der Wissenschaftler potentiell den Ideengehalt der Welt auffassen kann und dass dieser Ideengehalt ebenso real ist wie die physische Welt. Goetheanismus kann insofern als {\guillemotleft}empirischer Idealismus{\guillemotright} bezeichnet werden. Er ist damit zwar einerseits eine Erweiterung der vorwiegend analytisch-atomistischen Forschung unserer Zeit. Andererseits ist er aber keine alternative Wissenschaft, da seine Elemente in vielen wissenschaftlichen Str{\"o}mungen der Neuzeit vorhanden sind.

Goetheanism is characterized as a scientific attitude that attempts to merge carefully empirical observation and theory, perception and idea. It assumes that the researcher is able to comprehend the ideal content of the world, and that this ideal content has the same reality as the physical world. Thus Goetheanism can be characterized as {``}empirical idealism{''}. On the one hand it is an extension of the predominantly analytical and atomistic reserarch of our time. On the other hand it is not an alternative science, as its elements are present in many scientific approaches of modern research.{\&}nbsp;
