In two earlier articles I referred to some characteristic features of Anthroposophical Spiritual Science as a working method and to the wider approach which I termed Holistic Science (Elemente Der Naturwissenschaft, No.53, p.86 and No.58, p.89). The relationship between these two approaches is assuming increasing significance as the work of Rudolf Steiner becomes more widely known throughout the world. The World Michaelmas Conference held at Dornach September 23-30, 1993, provided an opportunity of observing Anthroposophical Spiritual Science at work in a practical and representative situation. This Conference will be the last of its kind before the year 2000, and it should now be possible to envisage the course which is intended Anthroposophical Spiritual Science should follow during the next six years. It is essential to have a clear understanding of the present situation, to provide a sound basis for future development - to know where special efforts are needed and where corrections or changes may be necessary. The discussions at the Conference were relevant, in many respects, to matters raised in my articles. The following notes are based on reports of the proceedings of the Conference, and they will, perhaps, contribute to the further discussions and elaborations which are now necessary.
