Abstract:
Goetheanism is characterized as a scientific attitude that attempts to merge carefully empirical observation and theory, perception and idea. It assumes that the researcher is able to comprehend the ideal content of the world, and that this ideal content has the same reality as the physical world. Thus Goetheanism can be characterized as “empirical idealism”. On the one hand it is an extension of the predominantly analytical and atomistic reserarch of our time. On the other hand it is not an alternative science, as its elements are present in many scientific approaches of modern research.
