Abstract:
This contribution describes the course of development of the use of oats from
food to medicine. We first present the cultural historical background of oats, their
ontogenesis and their plant physiological aspects which are reflected not least in
the specific substance composition. In the pharmaceutical part, we describe the
manufacture of three WALA preparations, showing that, in the laboratory process,
the plant‘s potentials are taken up and new conditions are created. In the medicinal
part, from the human developmental perspective we draw a broad link between
oats in food, in dietetics, their external application, and their use in medicines. [...]
