Abstract:

In the Light Course, Rudolf Steiner introduces the term “turbidity” in the 2nd lecture in connection with prismatic colours, surprisingly in the sense of an independent radiation comparable to the primary radiation of light. Since the audience at the time did not understand this perspective, Steiner returns to the concept of “radiating turbidity” in the 4th lecture, in the context of the interference experiment with Fresnel’s mirror and in the context of resonance absorption with sodium light. In my opinion, this results in a consistent interpretation of Steiner’s concept of turbidity, which will be presented in this paper.
